Ken, originally from Sapporo, Japan, is passionate about both soccer and plant science. He earned his PhD from Hokkaido University in 2004, then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota in 2011. Until August 2019, he served as a Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ). Since September 2019, he has been a Professor at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) and a Guest Research Group Leader at MPIPZ. His research focuses on network properties, structures, and dynamics in plant-microbe interactions, with a particular emphasis on uncovering new concepts in biology.
